Maureen “Mo” Garrison loves the arts revival taking place in downtown Tucson. On the fringes of quainter districts - the colonial-style barrio, the cafe-lined university district, the courthouse square with its fountains and columns - cavernous warehouses are being converted to artists’ studios and cooperative galleries. It all sounds kind of communal, and really it is; but that’s the spirit of the art world in this part of Arizona.
Mo's husband Daniel studied art decades ago, and it was providential for Mo that he had almost no time at all to do so: She, having more time, graciously took the classes for him, then conveyed what she learned to him. In this way, Mo herself became an artist. They enjoyed many years of painting together and showing their art in many different venues.
Dan passed away in June of 2006 and his paintings are no longer shown in the online store.
Mo has shown her watercolors, oils, and collages at various shows and galleries; at the Tucson Museum of Art; and at the Tubac Center of the Arts in Tubac, an arts colony nestled in a river valley halfway between Tucson and Old Mexico. Visit her store and share the inspiration.
